Reliable optically isolated signal transmission

With the new family of products WL-OCPT Series 816, Würth Elektronik offers for the first time optocouplers of the phototransistor type. These co-planar designed optocouplers consist of an infrared LED at the input port and a phototransistor at the output port. They stand out for a high insulation voltage of 5 kV and a stable direct current transmission ratio (CTR) over the entire operating temperature range. The WL-OCPT is available in five different THT and SMT package variants and five different CTR selections each, from 50 to 600 percent. For robust and durable components, Würth Elektronik has opted for a copper leadframe instead of the usual iron leadframes. The WL-OCPT is suitable for application in power supplies and chargers, computers and microprocessors, electricity meters, and many other applications that require signal transmission with safe optical isolation.
The co-planar structure inside the white casing guarantees a fixed distance to ensure protection against surges. WL-OCPT's service temperature range is from -55°C to +110°C and the CTR is stable throughout this range. The maximum emitter-collector voltage for this series is 80V.
WL-OCPT Series 816 is certified to VDE EN60747-5-5:2011 (#40051484), UL 1577 (#E513104) and CQC GB4943.1-2001; GB8898-2011(No. CQC20001244742).
