Safe battery management

With WE-BMS Würth Elektronik presents signal transformers for battery management systems which, thanks to their galvanic isolation of 4300 VDC/1 min and high operating voltage of up to 1000 VDC, are ideal for use in storage systems electric bikes or electric scooters. The items of the new WE-BMS series include, in addition to the transformers, at least one common mode choke to filter common mode interference. Würth Elektronik's design offers considerably longer creepage than comparable products on the market in a very compact package. Low profile variants with a height of 3,45mm are also available.

As the product abbreviation WE-BMS makes clear, the transformers are fully optimized for battery management systems. These are used above all to ensure safe operation and to provide information on the state of the charge. The cells of a battery pack are connected in series, in the same way as the corresponding BMS controllers. Voltage differences and electromagnetic interference may occur between components or boards connected in series. The WE-BMS transformer serves to isolate components from each other and to suppress electromagnetic interference (EMI). Its areas of application are, for example, storage systems for solar installations or uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). Since the WE-BMS series is AEC-Q200 approved, it is also highly suitable for electric mobility applications. WE-BMS support Serial Daisy Chain, isoSPI and SPI.
