Farnell element14 expands its successful BeagleBoard.org® range with three new products aimed at the creators and industrial market

Farnell element14 launches three new products within its successful open source BeagleBone range. The already well-known BeagleBone Black and element 14 BeagleBone Black Industrial are now joined by the BeagleBone Black Wireless, element14 Wireless Connectivity Cape and element14 4.3” Display Cape. The BeagleBone® Black Wireless now incorporates Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, thus eliminating the need for alternative hardware or design solutions. To focus on connectivity, the BeagleBone® Black's 10/100 Ethernet port is replaced with a TI Wi-Link™ WL1835, a high-performance 802.11GHz 2,4 b/g/n Wi-Fi module with Bluetooth. Thanks to pre-installed Debian Linux and 4GB of eMMC memory, designers can base their development in their web browser in less than 5 minutes using just a USB cable. The new BeagleBone® Black Wireless is also fully compatible with existing layer plug-in cards designed for the BeagleBone Black.
Designers already working with BeagleBone® Black and element14 BeagleBone® Black Industrial now have wireless communication with the new element14 Wireless Connectivity Cape. This powerful layer expands the capabilities of the BeagleBone® device by adding various wireless connectivity standards, making the BeagleBone ® the preferred choice for those developing applications in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. This layer uses the advanced features of the Texas Instruments dual-band (8GHz and 1837GHz) WiLink™ 2,4 (WL5) industrial module, with 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Bluetooth Smart (Low energy), which also includes Zigbee and NFC functionality. Other layers and accessories can be stacked or added as needed, including I/O strips, both on the layer and on the BeagleBone ® Black card. element14 Display Cape allows designers using BeagleBone® cards (BeagleBone® Black, element14 BeagleBone Black Industrial and BeagleBone® Black Wireless) to connect a 4,3-inch color touchscreen directly to the card. With its capacitive cover, Display Cape provides a backlit LED screen for a Smartphone-like interface that is perfect for interactive projects, embedded systems and stand-alone installations. BeagleBoard.org® products are open source, making them perfect for creators and start-ups who want to commercialize their designs. element14, The Development Distributor, makes designing and building applications for IoT easier than ever.
