RS Components (RS) and Allied Electronics (Allied),  announces the availability of BeagleBone Black, the latest version of BeagleBone, an open hardware, credit card-sized extension board for Linux computers, created by BeagleBoard.org. This new version of the board provides Internet access and is compatible with software such as Android 4.0 and Ubuntu.

 

BeagleBone Black is an extension based on the BeagleBoard using Texas Instruments' ARM Cortex-A8, Sitara AM3358 1 Ghz processor. At half the price of the original BeagleBone, with all the necessary accessories, the BeagleBone Black offers application designers high performance hardware and software at substantially less cost than similar development platforms available on the market.

 

BeagleBone Black offers excellent features: HDMI output, 3MB DDR512 memory; Internal 2GB eMMC flash and integrated serial interfaces. Whether operating independently or in combination with other equipment, the BeagleBone Black offers designers easy access to industry-standard interfaces and a suite of development tools and software. The BeagleBone Black has the ability to connect up to four expansion boards or stackable layers to the serial connectors. Most of the capes designed for the original BeagleBone can also be used on BeagleBone Black.
