Omron's first range of mobile robots offers a new level of efficiency and cost savings for the movement of goods in large facilities. It has been developed for fast, reliable and seamless material transport, and is capable of autonomous navigation in even the most dynamic environments. Ideal for transporting goods in warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing plants, Omron's LD mobile robots have a payload capacity of up to 130kg, depending on the model. Compared with traditional AGVs, the new Omron AGVs navigate fully autonomously based on the characteristics of the facilities, without the need for costly and tedious infrastructure modifications, thus eliminating the need to install magnetic tapes on the ground or laser beacons normally associated with the use of classic AGVs. A flexible factory layout is achieved as the delivery points can be easily changed.
LD mobile robots also offer a solution in traditional automation, such as conveyor belts, and allow tracking of goods movements. Equipped with patented Acuity technology, these robots have a robust autonomous navigation system that allows them to work even when there is constant movement of people, pallets, carts and forklifts, and while shelves are being emptied and restocked. Said "intelligent" system allows to avoid obstacles and select the best route to complete a task. It also makes them safe to work closely with people as collaborative machines. A fleet can consist of up to 100 vehicles and can be centrally managed by a fleet manager interfacing with factory or warehouse management software such as MES or WMS. This release includes LD Cart Transporter, an automated materials management solution designed for moving carts.
