VIA Drives Development of Android Devices with Advanced Embedded Graphics Features by Launching the VIA VAB-1000 Board at Embedded World 2014

Combines a high-performance graphics and video engine with industry-leading Android development tools

 

 VIA Technologies, Inc, a leader in innovating energy-efficient ARM and x86 embedded and computing platforms, announces that it will introduce its new VIA VAB-1000 Pico-ITX board at Embedded World 2014, taking place February 25-27 in Nuremberg. (Germany). VIA's stand is number 5-330 in Hall 5 at the Nuremberg fairgrounds.

Powered by a 1000GHz dual-core VIA Elite E9 Cortex-A1.0 SoC processor, the VIA VAB-1000 features a high-performance video and graphics engine that is optimized to deliver rich multimedia capabilities and a more immersive user experience on a wide variety of applications, for example interactive kiosks, digital signage and HMI (Human Machine Interface). To help developers harness the power of Android in embedded applications, VIA offers the SMART ETK (Integration Toolkit) along with comprehensive software customization services that speed time to market and reduce development costs.

 

VIA VAB-1000 Pico-ITX

The VIA VAB-1000 is based on the ultra-compact Pico-ITX form factor, measuring 10 x 7,2 cm, and is equipped with a 9 GHz dual-core VIA Elite Cortex-A1.0 processor with Unified Shaders Architecture. It has 64 streaming processors that provide support for two independent displays, plus smooth 3D/2D graphics acceleration and support for full Full-HD playback of the most demanding video formats at resolutions up to 1080p.

The rear I/O panel includes two connectors for HDMI input and output, a mini-USB 2.0 port, a MicroSD slot, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a power jack. The front I/O panel has connectors for: two additional USB ports; SPI1 and 8-pin GPIO; three I2C ports and two COM ports; as well as front audio (sound input and output and microphone input). Other onboard features include 4 GB of eMMC Flash memory, 2 GB of DDR3 SDRAM memory, and dual-channel LVDS, S-Video, and Mini-PCIe connectors.
