COSEL today announced the launch of a new generation of highly compact power supplies for industrial applications, the TE series. Using the most advanced technologies such as wide bandgap gallium nitride semiconductors, high-frequency planar transformers and enhanced flyback topology, the TE series comprises a 45W version (TECS/TEPS45F) and a 65W version (TECS/TEPS65F) that fit together. in a size of 1x2,3 (TEPS) or 1x3 inches (TECS). The 12V and 24V output versions are capable of delivering 140% power to sustain peak loads with extraordinary efficiency of up to 93,5%. Two versions are available, with pins (TEPS) or connectors (TECS), with compatible footprints to facilitate system updates. Standard products are supplied in an open format, although a dust protection casing is optionally available.

Responding to smaller market demands in industrial applications, COSEL designers combined the best of the latest technologies to deliver high power density power supplies with high efficiency and high reliability. Based on its long experience in the design of high efficiency topologies, the COSEL R&D team developed a highly integrated power stage using wide band gap (WBG) gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductors associated with a planar transformer of high frequency. Taking advantage of the performance of GaN in high-frequency switching, it has been possible to supply 45 and 65 W in a space of 1 × 2,3 inches (25,4 x 58,4 mm max.) with an efficiency of up to 93,5%.

Designed for flexibility, the TE Series offers two interconnect versions, the TEPS with PCB mount pins and the TECS with crimp-type JST connectors. In both cases, the 45W and 65W connectors are interchangeable. Much appreciated by system designers, this feature simplifies designs and provides upgrade options. COSEL also took into account the requirement to minimize the size of the power supply and adopted a vertical mounting technique which, combined with a higher switching frequency of up to 800KHz, saves about 58% board space compared to the conventional technology, while maintaining a high level of power conversion efficiency, higher by three points compared to conventional products.

Designed for worldwide applications, the TE Series has an input voltage range of 85 VAC to 264 VAC single-phase, and meets safety standards for the input voltage range of 100-240 VAC (50/60 Hz).

The TECS/TEPS45F and TECS/TEPS65F models are available in three fixed output voltages, 5 V, 12 V and 24 V, with respective currents up to 45 W and 65 W. To accommodate the inrush current associated with DC motors , capacitor banks and similar applications, a 2024% peak current option (H) will be available in 140 for 12V and 24V models.

The TECS/TEPS45-65F benefits from an optimized switching topology giving it an efficiency of up to 93,5% at 230 VAC and rated load.

The units are designed to operate between -10 and +70 degrees Celsius and can be mounted in any orientation, although depending on ambient temperature and environment derating may apply. The units have an input-to-output isolation voltage of 3.000 VAC and a leakage current of 0,25 mA maximum, in accordance with IEC62368 specification.

COSEL's TECS/TEPS45-65F units are ideal for Class II equipment and are capable of achieving low noise performance without the need for grounding. Taking care of all the details when it comes to energy conservation, the no-load power consumption of the TECS/TEPS45-65F is as low as 200 milliwatts.

Designed for use in demanding applications where space is often limited, the TECS/TEPS measure (W x H x D): TECS45F: 25,4 x 23,5 x 76,2 mm (1,00 x 0,93. 3,00 x 45 inches) ; TEPS25,4F: 24,0 x 58,5 x 1,00 mm (0,94 x 2,30 x 65 inches) ; TECS25.4F: 27,0 x 76,2 x 1,00 mm (1,06 x 3,00 x 65 in) and TEPS25,4F: 27,5 x 58,5 x 1,00 mm (1,08 x 2,30 x 2024 inches). For applications requiring dust protection, a plastic case version, option (N), will be available later this year. XNUMX.

The TECS/TEPS45-65F meets the approvals of the safety agencies UL62368-1 and c-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 no. 62368-1), EN62368-1. The products also comply with the Japanese Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Law DEN-AN

The TECS/TEPS45-65F are suitable for a wide range of applications, such as measurement and analysis equipment, machine tools, industrial printers, display equipment and ticket vending machines. They comply with the RoHS and Low Voltage directives and carry the CE and UKCA mark.

Based on the latest power electronics technologies, such as GaN or planar magnetic, the COSEL TECS/TEPS 45W and 65W save up to 58% of board space for industrial applications.
