The importance of peak power measurement in radar systems
Adler Instruments Technical Department
Radar systems are widely used in civil and military aviation, in road traffic control and weather monitoring equipment to name a few. All these systems have in common the transmission and consequent reception of the energy reflected by a distant object to calculate the speed, the distance and sometimes the elevation. Our safety depends to a large extent on these systems and they require accurate power measurements. This article focuses on those radars such as aviation radars that use pulse bursts, or modulated pulses to obtain finer target detail and have highly sensitive receivers for low noise measurements.
