Bi-directional laboratory power supply with energy recovery

EA-PSB 9000: power supply and electronic load in a single unit
EA Elektro-Automatik's PSB 9000 bi-directional laboratory power supply combines a power supply with an energy-recovery electronic load in a single device. This enables a reduction in both energy and investment costs. We will present this new development at the PCIM in Nuremberg this year. The PSB 9000 bi-directional power supply meets many requirements in a single device. Fundamentally we are talking about a power supply. In addition, the PSB 9000 fulfills the functions of an electronic load, accumulates energy and returns it to the electrical network. The parameters of the power supply as well as those of the electronic load can be flexibly adjusted. As a power source, the bi-directional PSB 9000 series can charge and discharge batteries, fuel cells and other types of energy storage.
To do this, the user can activate numerous built-in functions such as the battery analysis mode, an arbitrary wave generator and a starting curve for motor vehicles. As the internal resistance is adjustable, it is possible to reproduce the operating mode of batteries, energy cells and photovoltaic modules. In this way, the PSB 9000 supports the development of motor vehicles, hybrid engines and railway lines. In addition, the EA-PSB 9000 power supply can recover the energy absorbed in a test process, e.g. eg on a motor test bench, and return it to the power source. Thanks to this feature, the team can handle considerable energy with great dynamism. The EA-PSB 9000 series is capable of recovering energy with a very low loss and therefore, it is respectful with the environment, since it returns it to the AC network. Therefore, these instruments not only save energy but also investment costs in relation to other more conventional electronic loads.
Modular and flexible up to 15 kW EA Elektro-Automatik's bi-directional power supplies come in a modular format. They admit powers of up to 15 kW with a flexible output of p. eg 500 V and 90 A in a 3 U rack. EA Elektro-Automatik offers a wide range of equipment with output voltages from 60 V to 1.500 V and currents ranging from 20 A to 360 A. In addition, up to 16 can be connected units to create a system up to 240 kW. This system can be controlled via a 4-language human-machine interface or remotely via an interface. As standard, an analog port, a USB port, SCPI and ModBus are integrated. Thanks to a Plug & Play slot it is possible to install other interfaces. All interface inputs together with the human-machine interface are galvanically isolated.
