Harwin Introduces Strong Larger Diameter Terminal Pins

Meet growing customer demand for a greater variety of sizes
Harwin now offers a full range of 1,75mm diameter options to complement their 1mm diameter terminal pins. These pins will be suitable for larger sockets where a single connection is required.
The new terminal pins have a current rating greater than 9A, making them suitable for power applications. Thanks to their compatibility with Harwin's catalog of single contact sockets, they install directly into a connection. For example, they can function as binding pins for larger SYCAMORE contacts or with the company's double-bracketed surface-mount PCB socket.
Harwin terminal pins are intended for soldering through 1,6mm thick boards. They are supplied in versions with a height above the plate of 5mm, 8,1mm, 9,5mm, 15,3mm and 21,65mm. As a result, they allow for wide variations in the distance between plates, which are common due to production tolerances. This means that other connections on the board that only accept minute differences in spacing between PCBs can be fully maintained, without adding pressure. When supplied with a pewter or gold finish, these products exhibit high durability and guarantee a long service life.
“We have seen increasing user demand for our larger SYCAMORE and SMT sockets in applications such as EV charging, but only a very limited number of terminal pins with the right features have been on the market to date. . Hence, we have made the decision to support our customers with larger diameter terminal pins in addition to our existing products,” said Neil Moore, Harwin Product Manager for EMC and Industrial Connectors. “This means that customers who are having trouble finding an appropriate solution can come directly to us. We can see that there are concrete opportunities for these new terminal pins in many industries, such as meters, instrumentation, satellites and robotics."
