The strategic alliance between ANSYS and the international university of Florida makes valuable electromagnetic simulation tools available to their engineering students

Working with industrial technology in college prepares students for a professional life outside of the classroom.

Florida International University (FIU) School of Engineering and Computer Science students will have a competitive advantage when it comes to finding a job, thanks to the agreement reached with ANSYS (NASDAQ: ANSS), which makes available to students its robust simulation technology electromagnetic for use in laboratories and classrooms. Making such commercial simulation technology available in academia allows FIU engineering students to become familiar with a sophisticated software tool widely used in the engineering industry and increases their future value as engineers. This agreement also allows FIU to conduct significant cutting-edge research in electrical engineering sectors and gives ANSYS a seat on the Department's Industry Advisory Committee.
Stavros Georgakopoulos, a professor in FIU's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been using ANSYS software for more than a decade. He doesn't just train his own classes on the use of it; he also uses it in his university research and development projects for compact and reconfigurable antennas.
As part of this agreement, ANSYS will have a seat on the University's Industry Advisory Committee, helping to define the direction and content of FIU's engineering programs.

"ANSYS appreciates the opportunity given to expand its relationship with FIU," says Murali Kadiramangalam, director of the academic program at ANSYS." “Co-developing FIU's engineering curricula coupled with preparing future engineers is rewarding, especially when we consider that our clients consistently tell us that it is difficult for them to find talented engineers who also have experience working with ANSYS. Introducing students to our technology during their university training period significantly reduces their learning curve and more quickly forms engineers who will be much more productive in the long term in companies”.

The School of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida International University offers a wide range of officially recognized studies in engineering, as well as master's degrees, PhD programs in Biomedical, Civil and Environmental, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanics and Materials, among other options.
