Increased presence at MWC 2014: Rohde & Schwarz adds new stand for network carrier test solutions

This year, for the first time, the Rohde & Schwarz group of companies will have an additional stand (B50, hall 6) dedicated to operators and manufacturers of network infrastructure at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. At its main stand (C40, hall 6), the T&M specialist will showcase innovations and test applications for the development and production of consumer electronics that support all relevant cellular and non-cellular standards.

Stand B50, Hall 6: A single source for test solutions for the network life cycle

“Be sure of your network's performance” is the motto at stand B50 in Hall 6, where Rohde & Schwarz and its subsidiaries SwissQual, ipoque and Rohde & Schwarz SIT will provide information specifically for network operators and infrastructure manufacturers. Visitors can view test and test solutions through a single device for planning, installing, optimizing and operating wireless networks, such as the new, ultra-compact drive test scanner from Rohde & Schwarz. The company will also exhibit portable measurement instruments for the installation and maintenance of LTE base stations and for efficient interference capture. In the area of network testing and optimization, SwissQual will present its diversity of QualiPoc product families, including NetQual post-processing software. ipoque will be presenting its easy integration and traffic management solutions for infrastructure partners and network and DPI operators. The R&S ETH SITLine Ethernet encryptors and Mobile TopSec from Rohde & Schwarz SIT enable network operators to effectively protect the data transmission of their security-conscious customers against recording and tampering.

Stand C40, Hall 6: 3G, 4G and beyond mobile radio testers

The main Rohde & Schwarz stand will present numerous innovations that facilitate the commercial implementation of LTE and LTE-Advanced voice telephony. The well-known R&S CMW500 broadband radio communication tester offers new features for consumer electronics and chip manufacturers and network operators. For example, the tester can now test with three bearer components on the downlink and supports two bearer components on the uplink. And downlink carrier aggregation with 2×2 MIMO, including 3GPP fading profiles, can be performed on a single device. The R&S CMW500 also offers the performance needed for end-to-end testing of Cat6 devices on the downstream path. In another configuration, an R&S CMW500 protocol tester will be used to demonstrate parallel LTE and WLAN testing and LTE/WLAN Offload scenarios. For automotive applications, Rohde & Schwarz helps users carry out automated eCall test scenarios.

In the area of RF compliance, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate testing for increased inter-cell interference (eICIC) and increased downlink MIMO on its R&S TS8980 test system. These methods make it possible to further improve the transmission quality of LTE-Advanced.

And for the first time, Rohde & Schwarz will be exhibiting its turnkey solution for radiated over-the-air (OTA) testing. The solution consists of the R&S TS8991 and the WPTC Albatross armored project room. This system makes it possible to quickly and cost-effectively test all mobile, wireless and A-GNSS standards – including LTE MIMO .

For location-based services, Rohde & Schwarz will be exhibiting its GNSS simulator on the R&S SMBV100A, which has been upgraded to include the standard Chinese BeiDou satellite. The R&S TS-LBS test system enables consumer electronics manufacturers to replicate new network operator test cases using real-world, multi-city satellite scenarios. The R&S VTS, R&S VTE and R&S VTC video tester family addresses the need to test smartphone multimedia applications. Video testers can be used to test video streaming applications over LTE to ensure quality of service for end users and to test device interoperability with non-cellular technologies such as WLAN, Miracast, HDMI2.0 and MHL.

The R&S SMW200A high-end vector signal generator is the ideal tool for developers who need to generate high-quality, complex, digitally modulated signals. At the Mobile World Congress, two test setups will be on display: one for 4×4 MIMO for LTE-Advanced and one for surround tracking. For envelope tracking, an R&S SMW200A will generate a fully synchronized RF signal and envelope signal, and an R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer will analyze the required parameters. The high-end R&S FSW67 analyzer with its 67 GHz and 500 MHz analysis bandwidth is paving the way for developers of future 5G applications with signals in the higher frequency ranges.

The Rohde & Schwarz press day, starting at 10:00AM on Monday, February 24, 2014, will give journalists an overview of the company's innovations.
