Joint effort will establish a quantum innovation accelerator in Singapore

Keysight Technologies and Singapore's Quantum Engineering Program (QEP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on accelerating research, development and education in quantum technologies.

The National Research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore launched the QEP residing at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2018, with the aim of fostering research in quantum technologies and building its ecosystem. The program funds projects in quantum computing, quantum communication and security, quantum sensors, as well as a factory for quantum technologies, which are expected to lead to practical uses.

“It's going to take a team effort to realize the promise of quantum technologies, whether it's better computational performance or more secure information. We are grateful to count Keysight among the Quantum Engineering Program partners supporting this work in Singapore,” said Alexander Ling, QEP Director. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at NUS and a Principal Investigator at the Center for Quantum Technologies.

Under the MOU, QEP and Keysight will collaborate closely on the development of quantum instrumentation packages, as well as technologies that facilitate the scalability and deployment of quantum systems. In addition, they will establish a program called "Quantum Joint Innovation Accelerator" that facilitates access for researchers participating in QEP to multiple Keysight software design tools and advanced measurement and test instrumentation. Researchers can request to evaluate Keysight's measurement tools in their laboratories and access to equipment located at Keysight's Singapore facilities.

"We are pleased to support QEP with quantum measurement solutions based on our expertise in advanced measurement and quantum engineering technologies," said Sang Ho Oh, general manager for South Asia and the Pacific at Keysight Technologies. "As the quantum ecosystem continues to build, Keysight will contribute solutions that facilitate the Singapore ecosystem with accelerating research, development and education of quantum technologies."

"Keysight and QEP will establish a collaborative work environment that accelerates research and development in the emerging ecosystem of quantum technology," said BJ Tan, vice president and general manager of Electronic Measurement General Solutions at Keysight. "This cutting-edge research collaboration will open new frontiers and developments, driving industry innovations for years to come."
