Microchip expands its range of DSC dsPIC® for applications in household appliances, automotive and industry

Microchip announces a new family of dsPIC33 digital signal controllers (DSCs): the dsPIC33EP512GM710 family. It is an expansion of Microchip's dsPIC® DSC portfolio that adds further levels of integration for motor control applications. The new DSC family enables efficient dual motor control with 12 PWM motor control channels (6 pairs), two 12-bit A/D converters, multiple 32-bit quadrature encoder interfaces, and two CAN modules. With this level of integration, the dsPIC33EP512GM710 family can independently control two motors with a single microcontroller to optimize system costs. This family also serves as a communication hub in automotive or industrial applications to connect multiple CAN buses.
This family extends their existing dsPIC33EP families with support for 512 KB Flash, 48 KB RAM, and four op-amps. Other features of this family include enhanced analog functionality with two independent A/D converter modules, configurable at 1,1 Msps 10-bit with four sample-and-hold circuits, or 500 ksps and 12-bit with one sample-and-hold circuit. , with support up to 49 channels. This analog integration enables advanced sensor applications that demand multi-precision A/D converters with multiple sample-and-hold circuits, as well as the processing power of a DSP. The dsPIC33EP512GM710 family also incorporates a Peripheral Trigger Generator (PTG) for programming complex, high-speed operations on peripherals, reducing the number of software cycles
and the complexity of the firmware. The dsPIC33EP512GM710 devices allow more efficient and less expensive designs for household appliances such as air conditioning systems, washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators; for car cooling fans, fuel pumps, water pumps and sensors; and industrial equipment such as embroidery machines, lathes and printers, as well as other applications. The dsPIC33EP512GM710 family is supported by Microchip's dsPICDEM MCLV-2 development board (DM330021-2) and the dsPICDEM MCHV-2 development system (DM330023-2) with the new dsPIC33EP512GM706 single-motor internal op-amp PIM (MA330033). For motor control applications, a new general purpose PIM dsPIC33EP512GM710 (MA330035) is available for Microchip's Explorer 16 development board (DM240001).
The new family of microcontrollers dsPIC33EP512GM710 is now available for sampling and volume production.
