Keysight Technologies introduces the industry's first signal analyzer to incorporate sweep and FFT capabilities in a PXI form factor

SANTA ROSA, CA – September 16, 2014 – Keysight Technologies, Inc. today introduced the first signal analyzer industry standard that incorporates scanning and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) capabilities in a PXI form factor. Keysight's M9290A PXIe CXA-m signal analyzer delivers full specified performance up to 26,5 GHz and provides best-in-class specifications in such critical aspects as sensitivity and dynamic range.

The CXA-m supports testing of components, boards, and systems in a variety of applications, including military maintenance operations at the intermediate and depot levels (respectively, Tier I and Tier D). Devices tested include radios such as those used in military and public safety operations, avionics, radar, electronic warfare and satellites. The wide range of measurement capabilities built into the same instrument, including sweep and FFT modes, speed tasks such as harmonic and spurious signal identification.

“In the field of test system development, one of the most pressing requirements is to be able to do more in less space,” explained Brian LeMay, General Manager of Keysight's Instrument Division in Chengdu. “Since the CXA-m uses the same measurement science and calibration as our X-Series signal analyzers, there is no longer a need to choose between dimensions and accuracy when analyzing signals.”

In addition, the CXA-m reduces the time and effort spent on system development. For example, it ensures a seamless transition between R&D, manufacturing, and maintenance by providing full code compatibility written for Keysight's X-Series signal analyzers and ESA spectrum analyzers. Plus, ready-to-use drivers and SCPI commands simplify testing and programming.

To ease the transition from benchtop to modular instruments, the CXA-m features the same user interface as the X-Series signal analyzers. Plus, code developed on an MXA or PXA signal analyzer from workbench during R&D or design verification phases can be used with a PXI-based system including the CXA-m, and the code generally works without modification.
