Acceleration sensor and gyroscope in one

acceleration sensor

Würth Elektronik is expanding its range of compact MEMS-based sensors with a 3-axis acceleration sensor with integrated 3-axis gyroscope. Thanks to selectable measurement ranges and data rates, the WSEN-ISDS is extremely versatile in its application. For easy integration, the sensor comes pre-calibrated for application-specific functions: free fall, wake, touch, activity, motion, tilt, and orientation. The 2,5 x 3,0 x 0,86 mm sensor in LGA package has I²C and SPI digital interfaces and a FIFO buffer to store the output data.

There are countless applications for the WSEN-ISDS compact acceleration sensor and gyroscope: from location and navigation solutions to automation, industrial devices and machines, antenna and platform stabilization, to industrial IoT devices, robots and drones. The measurement of linear and angular acceleration ranges from recording individual events to continuous high-frequency monitoring of vibrations. To do this, you can select a data rate of up to 1.400 Hz for the accelerometer and up to 937 Hz for the gyroscope. The data output speed is up to 6,66 kHz. In high power mode the module requires 0,69 mA, but the current draw can be reduced to 0,28 mA in low power mode to capture individual pulses.

From a light breeze to a violent tremor

Depending on the intensity of the accelerations to be detected by the WSEN-ISDS, users can select different measurement ranges. Würth Elektronik offers the ranges ±2 g, ±4 g, ±8 g, ±16 g for linear acceleration and ±250 dps, ±500 dps, ±1000 dps, ±2000 dps for the change in angular velocity. The sensitivity accuracy is ±3%.

WSEN-ISDS is now available from stock with no minimum order quantity. Würth Elektronik offers engineers expert advice.
