Mouser Electronics recently announced new IoT development kits, prototyping platforms, and wireless satellite connectivity modules.

Astrocast Satellite IoT Modules, Evaluation Kits and Ceramic Antennas

Astrocast is a new provider from Mouser that provides satellite IoT connectivity services. In addition to its IoT service, the company also supplies a highly integrated satellite IoT wireless module that enables two-way communication with the Astrocast network. The Astronode S L-band satellite communication module uses a low-power Arm Cortex-M33 microcontroller and a unique wireless ASIC. Communication with the application host is done through a simple UART interface. Typical applications include asset tracking, ocean buoy monitoring, precision agriculture, global weather data, and system health monitoring.

STMicroelectronics STEVAL-STWINBX1 Development Kit

STMicroelectronics' STEVAL-STWINBX1 Development Kit is perfect for prototyping a wide range of Industrial IoT sensing applications, such as condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. Based on the ultra-low power Arm Cortex-M33 STM32U585AI microcontroller with floating point unit, the kit is equipped with an extensive list of industrial-grade sensors and is housed in a 480 mAh LiPo battery case. Sensors include a low noise, ultra-wideband 3-axis digital vibration sensor; a 3-axis magnetometer and an iNEMO inertial measurement unit with integrated accelerometer and gyroscope. Environmental sensors include a digital barometer, a temperature sensor, and analog and digital microphones. Extensive hardware features are complemented by firmware libraries and a cloud application.

Nordic Semiconductor's Thingy:53 Platform

Based on Nordic Semiconductor's nRF5340 with dual-core Arm Cortex M-33, Nordic Semiconductor's Thingy:53 platform is a low-power platform that supports various 2,4 GHz wireless protocols, facilitates the development of machine learning embedded with nRF Edge Impulse app and includes debugging and current measurement functions. Built-in environmental sensors measure temperature, humidity, air quality, and atmospheric pressure, and color and light sensors are also included. A low-power accelerometer and 6-axis inertial measurement unit complete the Thingy:53 platform's range of sensors. The platform's machine learning capabilities support various applications such as speech recognition and motion pattern detection. Other platform features include a power management IC, an nRF21540 wireless front-end module, and an integrated low-noise power amplifier (PA/LNA).

NXP SLN-VIZNAS Development Kit

For developers looking to add 2D or 3D life detection and facial recognition to their IoT device, the NXP SLN-VIZNAS Development Kit from NXP is the perfect solution for building a turnkey offline application for a wide range of residential uses. , industrial and hospitality, as well as access control products.
