The availability of affordable embedded computing modules, based on powerful, highly integrated 32-bit processors, has forever changed the specifications of new industrial products. This is part of a continuing trend towards high-quality graphical user interfaces that is gaining momentum thanks to continued price reductions for color displays. In addition, entirely new applications are beginning to be seen as a result of processor support in audio and video applications.
