The industry is improving the purely mechanical systems, based on cams and gears, with electromechanical systems that combine mechanical elements with advanced technologies such as electronic controls and motor controllers in a single system. These software-controlled electromechanical machines offer greater precision and flexibility to achieve increased throughput and production and also increase energy efficiency, which is beneficial to the economy and the environment.
