RS Components distributes the new Igus robotic kits that offer up to four degrees of freedom of movement. Compared to buying components separately, these kits offer savings. Each of the two available kits contains the necessary parts to build an igus Robolink D robotic arm – one with 1kg capacity and one with 4kg capacity and longer reach. Both can offer up to four degrees of freedom and are ideal for applications in R&D departments, educational centers, laboratories, and small and medium-sized industrial plants; wherever a reliable, precise, economical and flexible collaborative robotic arm is needed. RS has created several articles on DesignSpark (in English) with examples, tutorials and videos created by Massimo Temporelli, founder of 'Fablab', in Milan. The tutorials*, which can all be referenced to each other depending on the user's stage in their building process, contain all the instructions needed to build a working robotic model. Igus robotic arms allow you to build a custom robotic solution instead of opting to simplify a much more expensive unit. The open source control solution also makes integration much easier and allows the robot to be easily plugged into increasingly connected smart factories and enterprises. In this case, compact and cheap does not mean that the performance is inferior: these robots can easily compete with similar more expensive robots.
