Modular BC enclosure system for building installations

In the field of building automation, the installed equipment must comply with the DIN 43880 standard. This regulation specifies the dimensions that the boxes and components that are going to be incorporated into the distribution cabinets of this type of facility must have. This is why equipment manufacturers have to find and use electronics enclosures that meet these standardized dimensions, such as BC enclosures.

Building automation consists of the monitoring, control and regulation of its systems. This includes sections such as service management, control of blinds and awnings, access control systems or lighting controllers. Generally these systems are separated and managed by different individual teams, when the ideal would be to incorporate a flexible global solution, where an ideal choice of the enclosure is of vital importance. Following this line, the communication between modules could be simplified using connectors through the DIN rail, fully available, with which space, time and wiring are also saved.

These 16-pole DIN rail connectors are ideal for transmitting bus and control signals, as well as power. Each module, in this way, could be disconnected independently from the system and could later be reconnected simply by inserting it into the rail connector. This saves a lot of time in terms of installation and maintenance, and prevents errors during wiring. Also, if you need extension modules later, adding them is extremely quick and easy. To provide even greater flexibility and universality to the enclosure system for building installations, the upper parts of the BC boxes are now also modular, incorporating the possibility of customizing the space required for the connection in each module, being able to choose between three different positions of each panel per module. In this way, the surface of the printed circuit board can be further adapted to the particular needs of each piece of equipment and the installation of the electronic connection can be simplified.

By locating a module's side panel at the outer end, flush with the bottom end of the case, the maximum PCB area can be used inside the case for component mounting. On the contrary, if the location of the side panel is chosen at the innermost end, a wide installation space is offered for the connection, being able to use double-deck solutions, with greater depth, or RJ45. The intermediate position, the most common, integrates both functionalities, with enough space for external connection in most cases. In this way, flexible and universal enclosure solutions are offered, which are increasingly adapted to existing electronics, already designed or specific to each application.
