High efficiency in handling small parts

CHUNK begins a new era in small parts handling with its MPG-plus mini parallel gripper. Compared with similar modules that need the same input, the new SCHUNK small parts handling clamp achieves a much higher output. For this reason, it sets standards towards ever smaller and more efficient systems.

The combination of an oval piston drive and a roller guide offers an enormous degree of efficiency for this compact force mechanism, positioning itself as the reference parallel gripper in miniature handling. Due to their high force and moments, they allow the same constructive size to be equipped with longer fingers and thus allow more gripping force. Alternatively, integrators and users can work with smaller sizes depending on the strength requirement. In case of equipping the clamp with microvalves, the actuation time can be increased up to 100%. This increase in productivity saves valuable compressed air and tedious assembly work.

Up to 25% more grip force

Compared to the previous MPG, the clamping force of the frame size 40 increases from 110 to 140 N, which is equivalent to a force increase of 25%. The maximum supported finger length is 60 instead of 40 mm. In other words: instead of frame size 50 you can now use frame size 40! By increasing the number of cross rollers, the force is distributed, causing the load capacity to increase by 30%. Guide load capacity is increased, wear is decreased and the life of the collet is extended. To further increase precision, each roller guide is individually adjusted to its base claw. So they work stably and smoothly.

A lightweight design decreases the weight of the caliper

The MPG-plus has been designed to be an even lighter pneumatic gripper. It has been possible to save on excess material in the casing of the caliper.

In addition, the internal components are made of special high-performance aluminum and their weight has been reduced by an average of 10% across all frame sizes. So you can increase the dynamics in your installation. Just by reducing 2 ms per cycle, an entire shift can be saved every 3 months.

multiple use

To give integrators greater flexibility in their process and facility designs, the clamp can be mounted from either the side or the bottom. Apart from inductive monitoring, the MPG-plus can be monitored via built-in and programmable sensors, without creating large disturbing contours, the sensor only detects two positions, eg: “open” and “closed”.

In order to increase the stability of the processes, additional shutdown points can be programmed. Therefore, in short strokes, a monitored position is achieved with the possibility of detecting different sizes of pieces.
