Mouser joins Intel® and Analog Devices to promote technology innovation

Mouser Electronics, an internationally authorized distributor of electronic components and sponsor of the Create the Future Design Contest, congratulates the winners of the 2022 edition of the contest, who will receive honors at a special awards ceremony in November. Intel® and Analog Devices, Inc., Mouser's esteemed manufacturers, have joined Mouser as sponsors of the XNUMXth annual contest, produced by SAE Media Group, an SAE International company.

"We want to congratulate this spectacular group of winners and everyone involved," said Kevin Hess, Mouser's senior vice president of marketing. "Promoting technical innovation is part of Mouser's mission, and we are very proud to support this international design competition that celebrates incredible creativity and insight into the future of technology."

In conjunction with COMSOL and SAE Media Group, Mouser will award the $25 grand prize to a team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab for their entry to the FlowIO Platform, a fully integrated miniature pneumatic development platform. It is designed to make prototyping, innovation and innovation in programmable robotics quick and easy.

The finalists were selected by senior editors from SAE Media Group, organizer of the contest. The jury was made up of various independent design engineers and awarded the prizes to the following winners, who received them from HP and other companies:

  • Grand Prize: FlowIO Platform.
  • Aerospace and Defense: The Well-Dressed Spacecraft, pressure-sensitive piezoelectric fibers and conductive pile fabric with impact plasma charge sensing.
  • Automotive/Transportation: Betterfrost Ultra-low Energy Defrost & Defog System, a solution with which to defrost the windshields of electric vehicles with an energy use 20 times less than current technology.
  • Consumer Product Design: Green Screen, a noise protection screen for urban buildings.
  • Electronics/Sensors/IoT: RF Fingerprinting for Industrial IoT Security, a wireless intrusion detection system.
  • Manufacturing/Automation/Robotics: Large-scale tube 3D printing, a process that uses high strength-to-weight ratios to print large, solid parts with a minimal amount of material.
  • Medicine: The Novel Squid Glaucoma microShunt, an implant that avoids the setbacks of current glaucoma drainage devices.
  • Sustainable technologies: SUNPave, the energy of tomorrow but today; a patented solar panel technology that reduces energy costs by up to 15%.

The Create the Future Design Contest focuses on product designs that increase quality of life, improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare, or help reduce reliance on non-renewable energy sources. The contest was created in 2002 by the editors of Tech Briefs magazine to help stimulate and reward engineering innovation. For more information, visit the Mouser website.
