This article examines and analyzes intrusion detection and prevention technology as a key component of protection measures in networks and computer systems (servers, fixed and mobile workstations, palms, PDAs, etc.). Firewalls, IDS, their functions, dimensions, methods and architecture, their limitations, their capabilities, deployment options, reasons for using intrusion detection technology, etc. are analyzed.
