Tektronix enters the power analysis market

This move allows Tektronix to offer a broader set of test and measurement tools to help engineers debug and optimize power electronics designs.

Tektronix, Inc., one of the world's leading providers of test, measurement, and monitoring, today announced that it is entering the power analysis instrument market and will launch a full line of new products in the coming months. To facilitate this move, Tektronix has entered into a technology transfer agreement that includes power analyzer intellectual property, patents, and product designs from its partner Voltech, which will withdraw from the power analyzer business segment on 30 September 2013.

“This is an aggressive move by Tektronix in a dynamic and growing test and measurement market segment,” said Amir Aghdaei, Tektronix President at Danaher Executive Group. “Voltech's intellectual property, combined with Tektronix's strength in technology innovation and development, will allow us to introduce new cutting-edge product categories of power analyzers in the short term. This is an effective way for us to expand our product portfolio and end-to-end meet the needs of customers looking for power test and measurement solutions.”

For design engineers working on developing more efficient devices or developing new forms of electricity generation, such as solar photovoltaics and wind power, network analyzers complement power tests and other measurement tools, such as Tektronix oscilloscopes, power probes, and power supplies. By offering new analyzers, Tektronix complements its customer product portfolio that serves current and future customers who are focused on the energy market.

As part of the technology transfer, Tektronix and Voltech have agreed to work closely throughout 2013 and beyond to ensure a smooth transition to existing customers of Voltech's power analyzers. Voltech will focus on innovating its transformer testing market and continue to offer support, repair and application services on all Voltech brand products for many years to come. Customers of Tektronix's new power analyzers will have service and support provided through Tektronix's industry-leading Factory-Certified service organization. In addition, customers will benefit from Tektronix's broadest network of sales, service and support personnel and industry-leading R&D investment to support a global introduction plan.
