Moxa Europe GmbH and Robotron Datenbank-Software GmbH announce their cooperation for the configuration and supply of IIoT platforms. The two partners focus on applications for the "Industrial Internet of Things" in demanding industries such as process technology, oil and gas, and energy technology. The first joint IIoT projects have already seen the light of day for service customers in the energy field.
Most industrial companies have IIoT solutions on their agendas, and some are challenged by the need to see early results quickly with minimal own resources in order to determine if building an IIoT infrastructure is profitable. Others have already invested time and money and have some initial results, but no scalable platform to effectively face the next expansions and more projects.

Moxa Europe GmbH and Robotron Datenbank-Software GmbH face exactly these challenges. They have combined their activities in the Industrial IoT field and, with immediate efficiency, prepare global solutions that rapidly lead to installed, simple to manage and highly scalable IIoT platforms.

Moxa contributes reliable industrial hardware with which sensors, machines and other components are integrated. At the heart of this IIoT infrastructure are industrial-grade IIoT edge computers and gateways. Moxa also offers an operating system with Moxa Industrial Linux for these components. The main versions of this operating system will have security updates over a period of ten years, thus guaranteeing a long useful life and stability of the installed hardware, including the ever-increasing cybersecurity requirements.

As a specialist in collecting and analyzing large amounts of data, Robotron offers different software solutions and platforms for high-performance IIoT applications. In the field of industrial production, the focus is on current edge and cloud technologies, as well as artificial intelligence for intelligent process control and optimization. These solutions have extensive adaptability to the individual and highly variable requirements of industrial users.
Moxa and Robotron focus their joint cooperation on 4 application cases:
1. General IIoT platforms in demanding industries and applications for which Moxa provides hardware components: transportation industry (especially railway technology) and also oil and gas industry.

two. IIoT solutions for the energy field, a singularly strong point of cooperation. The first projects have already seen the light of day: Accessible IIoT hardware as well as innovative data analysis and visualization can offer insights into the distribution network that were previously only possible with significantly more expensive traditional solutions.

three. Energy efficiency and administration in industry. Here, Moxa's experience and Robotron's data analysis competencies, based, among many other things, on the robotron*IPEA platform, create an ideal combination.

four. Real-time applications based on Robotron's RCV (Realtime Computer Vision) platform. As well as Moxa's appropriately certified edge computing technology hardware, this platform is also suitable for use in demanding industrial applications such as, for example, industries such as oil and gas, mining technology/ extraction, railway technology, etc.

With this well-thought-out cooperation, the two partners see enormous potential to offer their service customers clear ancillary benefits as well as opportunities to open up new fields of application. Hermann Berg, Head of Industrial IoT at Moxa Europe, comments: "The cooperation with Robotron puts us in a position where we are able to safely deliver complex IIoT projects with high software and cloud technology requirements." The managers at Moxa are confident that they have found the perfect software partner with just the right catalog of solutions. Hermann Berg adds: "I am impressed by how well developed and stable the Robotron platform is, and by all the detail in which the data upstream processing is done at the gateway."

From Robotron's perspective, the combination of hardware and software expertise for IIoT applications produces the ideal state to be even more successful together. Michael Baling, Industry Manager at Robotron, says: “With Moxa's extensive and robust industrial-grade portfolio we have found a partner with whom we can easily forget about issues like environmental requirements, longevity and hardware-based security. On top of this, Moxa has relieved us in the field of logistics, as well as the German distributor partner Sphinx Computer, of all the difficulty thus allowing us to fully focus on our core software and data analysis competencies.”
