NIWeek 2013 started

NIWeek 2013 began where the presentation of LabVIEW 2013 and the new compactRIO platform have been the protagonists during the first day.

Dr. James Truchard and Erik Starkloff were the emcees of the first Keynote. During this presentation, NI advances and innovations were shown, such as the new version of LabVIEW2013, which provides engineers with new tools for software optimization, documentation management, compatibility with the new NI Linux compactRIO systems, as well as improvements in the publication of applications through NI Lab, the new compactRIO controllers with their new combination of dual ARM Cortex A9 processors and the Xilinx 7 series FPGA fabric.

This new controller also includes a new Linux-based real-time operating system. This set of improvements makes the performance of this new controller up to four times more powerful than its predecessor. Under the hardware we can find a software development that makes any code made with previous versions of LabVIEW fully compatible with the new platform. Even the code developed for the new myRIO is fully compatible with compactRIO. This gives us food for thought about the enormous work done by NI engineers on the software for both the myRIO and compactRIO platforms as well as the development of the new LabVIEW 2013.

A very interesting meeting was held by Dr. James Truchard, Erik Starkloff, Alex Davern and Ray Almgren, in which the new developments and evolution of National Instruments products as well as the strategy for the future were discussed. An informal meeting together with all the accredited media which, in addition to being interesting, was pleasant.

A brief walk through the Expo area shows us the wide variety of applications derived from National Instruments products, from the application in the field of machine vision to VST-based RF devices.
