Embedded World 2017 highlights its role as the main international electronics fair

Electronics Magazine Presents after its 15th edition, Embedded World has once again impressively reinforced its status as the No. 1 international trade fair for embedded systems technology. In 2017 it again reported significant increases across all specific exhibition KPIs and broke new records after three exciting action-packed and conference-packed days. More than 30.000 trade visitors, including an international contingent of 38%, came to Nuremberg for an event that reached new heights with more than 1.000 exhibitors (+8%) from 40 countries. The professional community was equally impressed by the conferences on embedded systems and displays: 1.796 embedded system experts and exhibitors from all over the world (+8%) traveled to Nuremberg to enjoy industry news and knowledge exchange. “The results obtained in the 15th edition of the Embedded World show that it is absolutely the number 1 event in the embedded electronics sector. On the occasion of this small anniversary, the event not only increased in area (8%), but also surpassed a new milestone in the participation of exhibitors, breaking the four-digit barrier with 1.017 exhibitors from 40 countries. But the 30.017 professional visitors from around the world also highlight the importance of the event for the embedded community. “We are very pleased that the event has grown once again, especially with regard to the number of international exhibitors and visitors,” says Richard Krowoza from the NürnbergMesse management team.

Highly Satisfied Exhibitors at Incorporated World 2017

This year too, the mood in the halls was excellent and both exhibitors and trade visitors were very satisfied with the event they call their own. Both groups benefited from the professional dialogue between them and a number of new projects were started. All this is also confirmed by our exhibitor survey, in which nine out of ten participating companies rated the event as a success. Based on this upbeat mood and the results at their booths, just as many companies said they would be exhibiting again in 2018. Around nine in 94 expect to get business through contacts made at the show and 95% were able to to forge new business contacts. In addition, XNUMX% confirmed that they managed to achieve their objectives set at the beginning of the fair.

Trade visitors are happy to recommend Embedded World

“In this its 15th edition of Embedded World, it continued to impress the professional visitors. You can really feel the fantastic atmosphere in the corridors. And this is illustrated again very clearly in the visitor survey carried out by an independent institute”, explains Benedikt Weyerer, Director of Exhibitions, Nürnberg-Messe. Almost without exception, trade visitors were satisfied with the content of the event and the range of products on display. Nine out of ten of the 30.017 professional visitors participate in the acquisition decisions of their companies. This is further proof of the great importance of the fair for the embedded community. As many as 86% would recommend visiting Embedded World to their business contacts and colleagues, while 97% stated before the show that they would return to Embedded World in 2018.

Focused on the Embedded World conference on IoT and security.

The theme of the Embedded World conference was “Securely Connecting the Embedded World”. In addition to the two main thematic areas “Internet of Things” and “Security”, the program included four other lecture groups: “Software and Systems Engineering”, “Hardware Engineering”, “Embedded Operating Systems” and “Focus on the management”. These clusters were built into sessions and classes and therefore allowed participants to choose between highly topical, practice-based content or technically sophisticated tutorials dedicated to exploring a topic in greater depth. Presentations were given by Mathias Wagner, Head of Security, NXP and Riccardo Mariani, Head of Functional Safety Technology at Intel. “Numerous conversations with conference delegates and company representatives confirmed time and again the great importance attached to the trade fair and conference to the embedded world. Conference visitors and delegates take home ideas, practical solutions and inspiration that put them in a favorable position to tackle the tasks that await them at home,'' says Professor Matthias Sturm, Chairman of the Embedded World Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the world conference. The electronic monitor conference also grew again this year and provided the professional community with all relevant information on screens and displays for developers, users and decision makers. For example, internationally renowned experts gave keynote presentations on new approaches in display technology, as well as market and technology trends. Other thematic focus areas and conference highlights included the use of displays and screens in automotive applications, OLEDs, AR/VR, and the latest trends in touchscreens. Sessions on topics such as screen measurement technology, interfaces and screen optimization provided a suitable complement to the programme, while interviews with the speakers after each session provided a great opportunity to discuss the content of the presentation in small groups of worked.

Interesting discussion forums with ideas about the future

The discussion forum “Embedded vision – the next big thing”? He made his debut this year. Already an established topic for the mechanical engineering industry, this was an interesting topic for the embedded community. What is simply an illusion and what is a reality? High-caliber representatives of traditional imaging and embedded communities joined users to discuss the latest developments, opportunities, and challenges in embedded vision. Mr. Richard York, Vice President Embedded Marketing, ARM Ltd., Arndt Bake, Marketing Director Basler AG, Jeff Bier, Founder Embedded Vision Alliance, Olaf Munkelt, Managing Director MVTec Software GmbH, Markus Tremmel, Systems Assistant , Robert Bosch GmbH and Nick Ni, Product Manager EmbeddedVision and SDSoC, XILINX.This event was the result of a collaboration between the VDMA IBV (German Association for Mechanical Engineering) and NürnbergMesse.
