Omron has announced a high-temperature, high-dielectric strength MOSFET relay for smart meters and a very fast-response miniature MOSFET relay for test systems

A high temperature, high dielectric strength MOSFET relay as well as a very fast response miniature MOSFET relay

Omron Electronic Components Europe has expanded its extensive range of MOSFET relays with two new devices. Omron's new G3VM-401 and G3VM-601 offer high dielectric strength and high operating temperatures for electrical metering and industrial control applications. The new G3VM-41UR, for its part, is a very fast response device characterized by its low conduction resistance and low output capacity in a very compact VSON package. It is intended for test and measurement applications, especially ATE equipment.

Operating temperatures can be particularly difficult for electricity meter designers as these units need to be hermetic to prevent tampering. Omron's new G3VM-401 and G3VM-601 devices solve this problem as they can withstand an ambient temperature of up to 110°C. They also offer a high dielectric strength of 5000V rms AC. These devices are supplied in both conventional and SMD formats, with SPST-NO contacts. They are energy efficient with a low trigger current of only 2mA. The G3VM-401 supports charging current up to 120mA at 400V and the G3VM-601 supports up to 90mA at 600V.

The new G3VM-41UR features a low CxR of just 10pF*Ω and can handle currents up to 0,25A at 40V, an exceptional level for a device of this size. It is an excellent compact alternative to SOP4 packaged devices and reed relays. Its low conduction resistance of just 2 Ω and low output capacitance of just 5pF make it ideal for switching test signals in ATE systems and other test and measurement applications, as well as communications equipment.
