New MOSFET relays that increase capacity and operating temperature

Omron Electronic Components Europe has again expanded its line of MOSFET relays to offer higher operating temperature and greater capacity in a six-pin DIP format for high currents. Omron's new G3VM-63BR and G3VM-63ER extend the range of 6V DIP60 MOSFET relays up to 0,7A continuous load current and enable operating temperatures of 110°C or more.

OMRON's highly robust MOSFET relays lead the optical semiconductor technology industry, thanks to their high speed and compact size, thus overcoming the drawbacks that usually characterize electromechanical relays. The company's new MOSFET relays, which operate between -40 and 110°C, facilitate the development of equipment much smaller and denser than equivalent mechanical devices. Input consumption is exceptionally low compared to all electromechanical relays, especially reed relays, which further contributes to energy savings.

The typical maximum resistance value with the output ON is 0,3Ω (0,1Ω with C connection) and the typical capacitance between the output terminals is 520pF. Its maximum forward LED firing current is 2mA, while ON and OFF switching times are 2ms and 3ms, respectively.

For industrial automation applications, the new models have NC contacts that allow status to be supplied to connected devices, including the power OFF state. The new relays can also be used with NO type contacts to allow control of switching multiple loads with a single input control. Beneficiaries in the industrial automation environment include PLCs, machine tools, inverters, robot controllers, temperature controls and fire, gas or smoke alarm systems. Other applications of the G3VM-63ER are sensor signal transfer and output signal switching, for example for gas detection and other similar alarm applications.

The new relays are supplied in tubes of 50 units or in ribbons of 500 units (SMT type only) in a range that includes PCB and surface mount terminals.
