MATELEC INDUSTRY, International Exhibition of Solutions for Industry and Smart Factory, organized by IFEMA and which will take place from November 13 to 16 at the Madrid Fair, coinciding with the ePower&Building call, will hold a conference on cybersecurity in the connected industry in process plants. At the meeting, convened by the ISA Spanish Section (International Society of Automation) and which will take place on Wednesday, November 14 – from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.-, industry 4.0 will be analyzed. applicable to the process industry, the need for protection and the types of attacks, the union between the IT and OT world and defense in depth. In addition, various examples will be presented.
At the moment, there is constant talk about industry 4.0, IIoT and many concepts that go through the connectivity of current control systems, to start managing data that until now did not seem to be relevant. Well, all this connectivity should not be carried out if it is not based on protection of the system itself against possible cyberattacks. There is a regulation based on the principles of network segmentation in an industrial environment (ISA95), as well as a series of regulations to be applied that could be classified as basic (ISA99). Currently, these two standards have become the IEC62443 for protection. In this context, the conference that will be held at MATELEC INDUSTRY on cybersecurity in the connected industry in process plants will consist of a first part in which David Ascarza, an industrial engineer from the University of Alcalá de Henares, will analyze the evolution of the industry until the 95st century, the need for external connectivity in control systems, the reality of cyber-attacks in the industry, the applicable regulations ISA 99 ISA 62443 / IECXNUMX, the union between the IT and OT world, and cybersecurity and defense in depth.
In addition, different examples and applications of all this will be presented. David Ascarza has extensive professional experience in the field of control systems in industrial sectors as diverse as food and petrochemicals and with practically all top-level PLC/DCS manufacturers. Currently, he develops his work at Emerson Automation Solutions, as Commercial Manager Iberia Installed Base Control Systems. In the second part of the meeting, a round table will be held, followed by a colloquium, in which experts on the subject will participate, who will also answer questions from those attending the event.
