LEM presents the Rogowski coils of the ARU range for easy outdoor installation with class 0,5 precision

LEM has developed its range of Rogowski coils as a sensor to measure currents up to 300000 A AC with class 0,5 accuracy conforming to IEC 61869-10 and IEC 61869-6
LEM is pleased to announce the development of a range of Rogowski coils to measure currents up to 300000 A AC with class 0,5 accuracy. The ARU range achieves class 0,5 of IEC 61869-10 without adding components such as resistors or adjustable potentiometers to calibrate the coil as they may drift over time. This range takes advantage of “Perfect Loop” technology, a unique and patented coil clamp that eliminates inaccuracy caused by sensitivity to the position of the conductor inside the loop. This technology provides an innovative, robust and fast "Twist and Click" closure.
Compared to LEM's previous Rogowski ART coils, the ARU range can be installed outdoors as models that meet UV, water, dust and ice resistance standards. This range also incorporates a resistant material to make it durable in extreme environments (wide range of working temperatures up to -40 to +80ºC). In addition, an internal protection screen against external fields is supplied that improves precision and optimizes performance for measuring small currents. The ARU series offers the same ease of installation as existing split-core current transformers with the added benefit of being thinner and more flexible. Whatever the size chosen – 70, 125, 175, 250 and 300 mm diameter for the opening – the ARU series can be assembled very quickly simply by clamping the cable to be measured. Contact with the cable is not necessary and the ARU series models ensure a high level of protection, in addition to providing a high rated insulation voltage (1000 V Cat III PD2 – reinforced).
The ARU range allows the coil to detector to be disconnected by a security seal through a specially designed slot, which is convenient when used with a meter. It can be used in applications that require a degree of protection up to IP 68. The models incorporate class 0,5 precision and complete the LEM product catalog for measuring AC currents. LEM is working on future distribution grid applications and offers high-quality and innovative solutions in order to measure electrical parameters in the Smart Grid. The Smart Grid is undergoing a radical transition due to the circulation of millions of electric vehicles and the installation of terawatts of renewable energy capacity in our networks.
The Smart Grid needs smarter equipment that offers reliable integration of intermittent renewables and distributed power resources. LEM improves the network by measuring electrical parameters and allowing automation of control rooms, with remote supervision and sharing equipment data in real time. Its typical applications are distribution automation for fault detection, isolation and recovery, network monitoring (e.g. smart substations), protection and security, distribution transformer monitoring, distribution automation for voltage control and power quality. The ARU series current sensors carry the CE mark and comply with the IEC 61869 standard; They also have a five-year warranty from LEM.
