Supports PCIe 5.0 testing and pathfinding for the emerging PCIe XNUMX standard

Keysight Technologies has announced that its M64A High Possibilities 8040 Gbaud Bit Failure Rate Tester (BERT) has been approved by PCI-SIG as a compliance testing instrument for testing on PCI Express 4.0 (PCIe Gen4) at 16 giga transfers per second (GT/s) and 8GT/s. Keysight is the only test solutions manufacturer to have two PCI-SIG approved BERT systems for testing PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 3.0 technologies.

As serial bus technologies increase in speed and bandwidth, test instrument manufacturers are required to supply tools capable of testing beyond the state of the art. Keysight's BERT systems enable accurate verification in the physical layer design of high-speed communications and multi-gigabit digital interfaces. Keysight's M64A 8040 Gbaud High Possibilities BERT is the only PCI-SIG approved BERT test receiver for PCIe forty capable of testing PCIe fifty (32GT/s) and enabling pathfinding (the process of choosing a design choice by evaluating different technical approximations against a defined set of system parameters and targets) for speeds of the emerging PCIe 64s (XNUMXGT/s).

“PCI-SIG is very pleased to have Keysight participate as one of the key manufacturers to rely on to provide effective compliance testing for our members in their official laboratories,” said Al Yanes, director of PCI-SIG. “We appreciate the time, effort, and expense associated with our testing events and acknowledge Keysight's continued efforts to support GIS activities, particularly in obtaining approval for equipment to be used in compliance testing. officers.”

“Keysight is pleased to receive PCI-SIG approval for the M8040A high-performance BERT for PCIe forty receiver testing,” said Kailash Narayanan, vice president of Keysight's business communications suite. “The PCI Express standard is essential to Keysight and to our service customers. As the industry looks to the future with PCIe 8040, we believe that the approval of our M4A for PCIe 32 receiver testing will increase our customers' confidence in the test tools in use today, while offering a clear path to next generation technologies at speeds from PAMXNUMX up to XNUMXGbaud.”

"PCI Express I/O-based technology is expected to lead the way for high-performance I/O interfaces including accelerator interconnects like Compute Express Link," said Jim Pappas, director of Technology Initiatives, Intel Enterprise. "Receiver and transmitter test solutions offered by companies like Keysight Technologies are critical to enabling the development, deployment, and adoption of high-performance I/O technologies on future Intel platforms and across the industry."

PCI-SIG (originally formed as the Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group) develops and manages the PCI bus specification, the industry standard for high-performance I/O interconnect that transfers data between central processing units and the peripherals. Currently, PCI-SIG manages the PCI, PCI-X® and PCI Express standards.

PCI-SIG continues to evolve the PCI standard to meet the needs of the industry. Through interoperability testing, technical support, seminars, and industry events, PCI-SIG enables its members to produce quality, competitive products.
