EA Elektro-Automatik announces a major step forward in power density with its new industrial series of 60 kW DC power supplies and electronic loads

power density

EA Elektro-Automatik GmbH & Co.KG, a global manufacturer of DC power supplies for R&D and production, launches its EA-PU 10000 programmable DC power supplies, its EA-PUB 10000 bidirectional programmable DC power supplies and its EA-PUL DC programmable regenerative electronic loads to the market 60 kW and 30 kW. Typical applications include testing battery packs for electric vehicles, furnace power in wafer manufacturing for semiconductors, electrochemical electrolysis processing, and testing with solar inverters. The new products, without front touch display, are designed for use in ATE production systems and automated process control systems that require high power.

The 60 kW models reach maximum output voltages from 360 V to 2000 V and maximum currents from 480 A to 80 A; while the 30 kW models reach maximum output voltages from 60 V to 2000 V and maximum currents from 1000 A to 40 A. In total, the 60 kW series is made up of 21 models and the 30 kW series by 29 models, which allow engineers to select the perfect model to fit their specific applications. The increased power capacity allows engineers to reduce the number of power instruments required for a high-power system, saving critical rack space and providing more power in a smaller space.

With a 60 kW string in a 6U chassis and a 30 kW string in a 4U chassis, EA Elektro-Automatik offers the highest power density on the market. Markus Schyboll, Managing Director of EA Elektro-Automatik, states: “With the new 60 kW and 30 kW industrial series equipment, EA Elektro-Automatik offers cost-effective, space-saving solutions that prioritize the lowest cost of ownership. with the highest security on the market. Our models have protection functions against overcurrent, overvoltage, overpower and overtemperature and our new bidirectional power supplies and regenerative electronic loads offer power factors of 0,99 and recover up to 96% of the absorbed energy to return it to the network electric.”

Supports systems with a capacity of up to 3,84 MW

Test engineers can parallel up to 64 units of the 10000 Series power supplies or electronic loads using the master-slave bus (formerly known as the master-slave bus) to allow a single piece of equipment to control all pieces of equipment in one system that can operate in parallel up to 3,84 MW. The system can be built with any type of combination of instrument models from the EA 10000 series family. A galvanically isolated Share-Bus interface on each instrument ensures that all instruments safely share the load requirements for that instrument. don't overload.

Save cost on instruments and rack space

A capacity of 60 kW in a single chassis allows engineers to reduce the number of instruments required for a high-power system that achieves both significant capital cost savings and critical rack space. In addition, the removal of the front display saves even more equipment costs.

Save test development time with consistent performance across all models

All 10000 series devices work with the same firmware and have similar input and output characteristics. The common programming and user interface saves test development and configuration time when creating test and control systems that require multiple power instrumentation.

Access greater voltage and current capacity in a single device with true autoranging

All 10000 series units employ an autoranging output feature (input if electronic load). Autoranging allows equipment to have higher voltage capability at lower currents and higher current capability at lower voltages than a power supply or load with a conventional rectangular input/output characteristic. In addition, a device with an autoranging input/output can offer/accept full power output over a significant portion of the device's operating range. This is in contrast to an instrument with a rectangular output characteristic that only delivers full power at its full voltage and current. Unlike competitive equipment that offers an autoranging feature, the advantage of EA's true autoranging capability for a test engineer is being able to access a greater range of voltages and currents allowing them to test more equipment without the need for more instruments.

Simulate power devices and create AC + DC signals with an optional built-in arbitrary waveform function generator

EA-PU power supplies, EA-PUB bi-directional power supplies and EA-PUL electronic loads are available with a built-in full-function generator (optional via software) to create complex signals that work with DC bias and simulate the characteristics of different devices, such as solar cells, batteries and fuel cells. Special functions enable maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and solar panel inverter testing EN 50530, and test sequences based on LV123, LV124 and LV148 standards for testing automotive components and systems. Optional function generator simplifies the task of simulating multiple devices and creating sequences of outputs (or inputs) to meet key test standards by eliminating the need for external waveform generation instrumentation to safely interface with an instrument EA Elektro-Automatik.

Easily communicates with PCs and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

The equipment of the 10000 series works effectively either in PC-controlled test systems or in PLC-controlled industrial processes. Engineers can easily program equipment using SCPI or ModBus programming modes. The 10000 series devices have a set of galvanically isolated interfaces. Standard interfaces are Ethernet, USB, and analog while optional interfaces include CAN, CANopen, RS-232, Profibus, ModBus, Profinet, and EtherCat.
