The monthly series continues the design process to solve routine problems at high speed.
Digi-Key Electronics, which offers the planet's largest selection of electronic components in-stock for immediate shipment, in conjunction with Tomorrow Lab, today launched a new video series called “Potentially Genius”. In each and every monthly episode, a team of designers and engineers will spend 4 hours solving a routine problem, following the XNUMX stages of product invention: Discovery, Conceptualization, Prototyping, and Presentation.
Digi-Key Electronics and Tomorrow Lab have partnered to launch the “Potentially Genius” video series on YouTube.
The first episode of the series, called "Electronic Brake for Inline Skates," follows the creation of a mechanized brake for inline skates. Throughout the “Potential Genius” episode, Sean Pheanis brings the idea to the Tomorrow Lab team and explains the challenge that needs to be solved: the ability to brake more safely when going down hills or around obstacles. So his engineering team goes through the 4 stages of Tomorrow Lab's product invention workflow to develop a remote controlled brake using Digi-Key components; the process is documented along the way.
“We at Tomorrow Lab are beyond excited to be working with Digi-Key on this ambitious new video series for YouTube,” said Tomorrow Lab Associate Theodore Ullrich. “Potentially Genius builds on our predecessor YouTube series, The Teardown, and takes it to a new level. With Potentially Genius, we have fun working on ideas that may not have immediate business applications and offer our audience a glimpse into Tomorrow Lab's decade-old product invention workflows and New York office. We look forward to the Potentially Genius series reaching and also inspiring new audiences by combining high production quality, TL's experience in physical product design and development and, last but not least, TL's extensive supply of components. Digi-Key”.
“With Potentially Genius, we wanted to highlight the 4 stages of new product design and spend time teaching how you can attack the drawbacks, trade off, and weigh those options with limited time and resources,” said David Sandys, Chief Marketing Officer. Technician at Digi-Key. “We hope the Potentially Genius video series will inspire engineers, start-ups and authors around the globe to bring their ideas to life; genius is often just around the corner, and starting the journey is the most critical part of getting there. Digi-Key and our design and integration services vendors are excited to be a part of that journey.”
The first episode of the “Potentially Genius” monthly video series is titled “Electronic Brake for Inline Skates”, which continues the development of a mechanized brake for inline skates.
The first episode of the series is available on the Digi-Key site and on the Digi-Key YouTube channel.
