Bel Mondo, the trattoria that enchants us with its CASAMBI intelligent lighting system

Electronics OLFER collaborates with the French group Big Mamma, in advising and setting up the lighting system for its new Bel Mondo restaurant in the Spanish capital.

Under the surroundings of an Italian villa, a façade covered in flowers, interiors with vinyl, stoves and a lignite oven, with its huge dining room and a large covered terrace, the Bel Mondo restaurant opens its doors at number thirty-nine Velázquez Street in the capital of Spain.

This fabulous staging and the care with which this chain of trattorias "dresses" its restaurants is not exempt from a fundamental factor in each and every one of them: lighting. A collaborative work between the OLFER electronics technical and commercial department together with Misolincar (architecture studio) and Studio Kiki (interior design) to choose the best lighting system for the premises.

Once the CASAMBI software, the innovative Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) wireless technology for intelligent lighting systems, was chosen, it was the OLFER electronics professionals who advised on the choice and supply of all the components (hardware) installed in the restaurant. The installation was carried out by the construction company 4Retail, who carried out the entire renovation work and also relied on OLFER Electronics for the implementation of the CASAMBI system.

This wireless technology, used by all our mobile phones or tablets and free, provides great utility along with friendly and easy programming, creating automated systems without the need for wiring, simple and clean. With CASAMBI we create intelligent communication networks between each and every one of the devices in such a way that if one of them stops working it does not affect the rest of the network and allows us to easily make a remote connection creating an unlimited number of scenes and animations to set our spaces. It offers enormous functionality such as control of natural light input, maintaining precise lighting levels according to ambient light, circadian cycles to improve the health and well-being of users, and control of multiple devices, not just lighting, with the possibility of integration with other building control systems.

For the Bel Mondo restaurant, OLFER electronics has created three networks for different areas: dining room, terrace and reception/back office, and multiple scenes have been created, at the client's request, to create different environments (lunch, afternoon, dinner, interior, facade, balconies…). The different scenes were created and easily adjusted according to the wishes of the property and managers without complication. Likewise, training was carried out for those responsible, allowing them to easily adapt the levels of regulation and color of the different scenes to their choice.

Ownership was very involved, which was lucky and they were delighted with the solution. They had previously used wired control systems in other projects and it made a big difference. The person in charge of the project, Vicent Le Gal, commented that he had been surprised by the speed, ease and operation of the system, "We are sure that for the next restaurants we will have CASAMBI."

The devices that have been installed, a total of 513, are the following: PWM-24-4BLE dimmable Led drivers, CBU-PWM2 controllers, Casambi CBU-TED and TRED-Y also-CSB-410A dimmable triacs, actuators with relay Casambi CBU-RELAY-OLF, the Gateway GTWXNUMX-OL, XPRESS wireless pushbuttons and the TIMER CASAMBI precision clock. The project underwent many last-minute alterations, such as changing the location of the kitchen stoves several times. This meant a certain delay by being directly involved in the electrical installation. The lighting also underwent different changes during the execution of the project itself. As it does not require singular wiring for the control, it was easily adapted to the active transformations of the project. For example, at first the bar area was not contemplated and thanks to the flexibility of the Casambi system, an extension could be made to integrate it into the system.
