The new drives feature 3th generation BiCS FLASH™ 6D flash memory; 2048 GB SSDs continue to include M.2 type 2230 and M.2 type 2280 form factors
KIOXIA Europe GmbH today announced the addition of the KIOXIA BG6 series to its range of PCIe® 4.0 Solid State Drives (SSDs). This is the first product that has the new 3D BiCS FLASH flash memoryTM 6th generation from the company, featuring almost 1,7 times more performance than its predecessor. Designed to deliver the increased speed and affordability of PCIe® 4.0 for PC users, the powerful and compact KIOXIA BG6 series client SSDs offer a discrete M.2 type 2230 form factor with higher capacity and better power efficiency.
They are also available in a single-sided M.2 type 2280 form factor. KIOXIA's BG6 series has great flash performance on the back-end, while maintaining accessibility and higher capacity. For this reason, it is a very interesting option for commercial and consumer laptops and desktops. KIOXIA BG6 drives support full-fledged HMB (Host Memory Buffer) technology, which uses part of the host memory (DRAM) as its own, to achieve a high-performance DRAM-less SSD drive.

KIOXIA's BG6 series will start sampling in the second half of 2023 for OEM customer evaluation.
