The devices enable low power consumption and high efficiency of battery-powered devices.
Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH (“Toshiba”) announces the introduction of the TCR3DMxxA and TCR3EMxxA series of general-purpose single-output voltage regulators with on/off input control, featuring low dropout voltage and fast transient response. Both series are housed in the ultra-small DFN4D package (1,0 mm x 1,0 mm x 0,37 mm), which enables the use of small input and output ceramic capacitors (≥1,0 µF). This makes them suitable for industrial applications or battery-powered systems requiring high-density board mounting. In addition, the devices provide a (VCTH – Control Pin Threshold Voltage) control pin threshold voltage of 0,8V (minimum) and support 1,2 VI/Os, helping to extend the battery life of the device.
The TCR3DMxxA series operates over a wide input voltage range of 1,5 V to 5,5 V. The devices are available in fixed output voltages between 1,0 V and 4,5 V (±1%) and can drive up to 300 mA. Within the series, the dropout voltage is 216 mV (typical) with a low output noise voltage of 38 µV.RMS, and the ripple rejection ratio is 72 dB (typical). This allows the devices to maintain the output voltage even when the battery voltage drops. Additionally, since large current output is possible at a low input voltage, the TCR3DMxxA series devices achieve low power consumption and high power delivery efficiency. The quiescent current is 86 µA (typical) and the standby current is 0,1 µA, maximizing battery life.
The TCR3EMxxA series of LDO regulators operate over a wide input voltage range from 1,3 to 5,5 V. The devices have fixed output voltages between 0,8 V and 5,0 V (±1%) and can drive up to 300 mA. Compared to the TCR3DMxxA series, the typical dropout voltage is much lower at 160 mV (2,5 V/150 mA), with a low output noise voltage of 50 µV.RMS, (RMS), and the ripple rejection ratio is 68 dB (typical). Ultra-low quiescent current is 35 µA (typical) and standby current is 0,1 µA for even longer battery life.
The TCR3DMxxA and TCR3EMxxA series feature overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, an inrush current protection circuit, and a self-discharge function to protect the power supply circuit. A reference design using the TCR3DMxxA and TCR3EMxxA series LDO regulators is available for a power supply circuit application.
