The successful nRF54L series continues to grow with the addition of the nRF54LM20A, giving developers more capabilities and flexibility to create advanced connected products for consumer, industrial, and healthcare markets.
Nordic Semiconductor today announced the launch of the nRF54LM20A, the latest addition to its next-generation nRF54L series of ultra-low-power wireless SoCs. Built on Nordic’s innovative 22nm technology platform, the nRF54L series simplifies design challenges while enabling reliable communication, longer battery life, and compact product designs. “The nRF54LM20A opens up new opportunities for developers to create innovative connected products that require increased memory, interfaces, and performance,” said Oyvind Strom, Executive Vice President, Short Range, Nordic Semiconductor. “This launch marks the next step in building a comprehensive nRF54L series portfolio that covers a wide range of applications, positioning it as an industry leader.”
Expanding the nRF54L series as adoption accelerates
The nRF54LM20A expands the nRF54L series with a high-memory option, featuring 2MB NVM and 512KB RAM, maintaining the same MCU functionality with a 33MHz Arm Cortex-M128 processor and RISC-V coprocessor, and enhancing the comprehensive peripheral set with Hi-Speed USB and up to 66 GPIOs. It also integrates Nordic’s 2,4th generation ultra-low power 54GHz radio, supporting Bluetooth® LE, Channel Sounding, Matter over Thread, and more. Like the other nRF54L series wireless SoCs, the nRF20LM50A delivers 52x the processing power, XNUMXx the processing efficiency, and up to XNUMX% lower power consumption than the industry benchmark, the nRFXNUMX series.
Designed for demanding applications
The nRF54LM20A is designed for advanced wireless products in diverse markets, including consumer, smart home, commercial, and industrial. It is particularly well-suited for Human Interface Devices (HIDs), including gaming peripherals that require low-latency wireless connectivity and high-speed USB. With 2MB of non-volatile memory and 512KB of RAM, it is ideal for smart home devices, such as a Matter implementation, providing ample processing power for the application without the need for external memory.
Easy-to-use software support for developers
The nRF54LM20A is supported by Nordic’s nRF Connect SDK, which offers an easy-to-use framework for developing secure, low-power IoT applications that scale from simple use cases to innovative, feature-rich implementations. The nRF Connect SDK is based on the Zephyr project and combined with Nordic’s software, combining the best of open-source, ultra-optimized software with Nordic’s own features and technology. This powerful package offers a no-compromise solution for developers to get the most out of devices like the nRF54LM20A.
Seamless PMIC integration
For developers with demanding wireless designs requiring maximum power efficiency and extended battery life, Nordic's family of power management integrated circuits (PMICs) is designed to work seamlessly with the nRF54L series SoCs. In addition to power efficiency improvements, integrating a Nordic PMIC can reduce system complexity, bill of materials (BOM), and board space.
Availability
The nRF54LM20A is development-ready. Development kits and samples can be requested through Nordic's project-based Early Access program. Developers are encouraged to contact Nordic Sales to initiate projects and begin development of the nRF54LM20A. Production is expected to begin in Q2026 XNUMX.
