New KIOXIA CD8P series NVMe data center drives optimized for performance, latency and QoS in E3.S and 2,5-inch (U.2) designs
KIOXIA Europe GmbH, a world leader in memory solutions, today announced the addition of the KIOXIA CD8P series to its range of data center-class solid-state drives (SSDs). KIOXIA's CD8P drives are suitable for general-purpose cloud and server environments and are capable of leveraging the performance of PCIe 5.0 (32 GT/s x4). Data center applications can generate complex mixed workloads distributed across large-scale virtualized systems in 24/7 operating data centers. The new drives are available in capacities up to 30,72 terabytes (TB) and in E3.S and 2,5-inch (U.2) Enterprise and Data Center SSD Form Factor (EDSFF) designs.
KIOXIA's CD8P series is optimized for performance, latency, and reduced power and thermal requirements for data center environments where power and cooling efficiency are critical. Additionally, it provides the predictability and consistency needed for a smooth user experience.
KIOXIA CD8P drives have approximately a 60-80% increase in sequential read performance compared to previous generation PCIe 4.0 SSDs. Here are some of the improvements:
- Up to 2000K IOPS random read and up to 400K IOPS random write performance
- Consistent low latency 99,999th percentile of less than 250 us in standard random read workloads, and less than 1,8 ms in standard mixed OLTP-style workloads
- Single-port design, optimized for data center-class workloads
The new data center drives are based on KIOXIA's fifth generation 3D Flash memory, BiCS FLASH™, with Triple Level Cell (TLC), and use an internally developed controller. KIOXIA CD8P series SSDs are compliant with PCIe 5.0 and NVMe 2.0 specifications, as well as NVMe Express Management Interface (NVMe-MI) v1.1d, and support NVMe SSD specifications from the Open Compute Project (OCP) data (not all requirements).
