The Microchip MCPF1525 power module with PMBus™ It supplies a 25A DC/DC power supply that can be multiplied up to 200A
The growing workloads of AI and high-performance computing demand power solutions that deliver efficiency, reliability, and scalability. Integrated power modules help streamline design, reduce energy consumption, and provide the performance required by advanced data centers. Microchip Technology today announced the MCPF1525 power moduleThe MCPF1525 is a highly integrated device with a buck converter, operating at a 16V input and capable of supplying 25A per module, which can be multiplied up to 200A. It allows for increased power density within the same rack space and is compatible with a PMBus.™ programmable and controls I2C. This device is designed to power the new generation of PCIe switches® and the high-performance microprocessor computing applications needed to implement AI.
The MCPF1525 comes in an innovative vertical package that maximizes board space, reducing its footprint by up to 40% compared to other solutions. This compact power module measures approximately 6,8 mm x 7,65 mm x 3,82 mm, making it an ideal solution for AI servers where size is a constraint.
To increase its reliability, the MCPF1525 includes several diagnostic functions transmitted via PMBus™As protection against overheating, overcurrent, and overvoltage, in order to minimize the number of undetected failures. The device's encapsulation incorporates thermal enhancements and is designed to operate within a junction temperature range of
-40°C to +125°C. An embedded EEPROM allows users to program the default boot configuration.
“Thanks to Microchip’s wide range of solutions, including PCIe technology® Switchtec™Flashtec FPGAs, microprocessors and controllers® NVMe®“The MCPF1525 power module can help customers achieve the system efficiency, reliability, and scalability that high-performance data centers and industrial computing require,” said Rudy Jaramillo, vice president of Microchip’s analog power and interfaces division. “Full integration with the Microchip portfolio simplifies development and reduces risk, helping designers accelerate time to market.”
The MCPF1525 integrates a custom-designed inductor to reduce conducted and radiated noise in order to improve signal integrity, data accuracy, and high-speed computing reliability, thereby helping to reduce repeated data transmissions, which increase power consumption and waste system time.
Microchip offers a wide range of DC/DC power modules with input voltages from 5,5-70V, supplied in very compact, rugged packages with thermal enhancements designed to increase power density. For more information on Microchip power modules, please visit the web page.
