A new Omron relay increases the current capacity for charging electric vehicles and UPS

omron relay

Omron Electronic Components Europe has expanded its G7EB high power relay catalog with a new 120A version for control and instrumentation applications such as photovoltaic inverters, electric vehicle charging and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The new G7EB-1A-E provides the fundamental advantage of reduced heat generation thanks to lower contact resistance compared to its competitors.

The new G7EB-1A-E expands the capacity of the existing G7EB relay by increasing the current rating from 100A to 120A and allowing 30.000 operations at 40A switching and 120A conducting.

The increase in demand in data centers requires a greater capacity of the relays installed in the UPSs. For example, expanding the power of a 400V three-phase UPS from 60 to 80kVA requires increasing the relay capacity from 100A to 120A.

AC input applications in electric vehicle charging systems is another application for the new G7EB High Power Relays. The 120A model is well suited for Mode 3 EV chargers with 19,2kW single phase power to switch the inverter. In addition, the new relays meet the 20kW DC charger requirements of EV chargers with Mode 4 DC output and V2H AC input inverter switching.

The new G7EB-1A-E relays are now available through Omron Electronic Components Europe, as well as their authorized distributors and representatives.
