5 kW programmable power supplies with voltages of 1.000 and 1.500 V

With a 1U format, the two new TDK-Lambda GENESYS+™ models are ideal for testing and development applications of electric vehicles with batteries of more than 600 V

TDK Corporation (TSE 6762) announces the introduction of two new models of 5 kW from his series TDK-Lambda GENESYS+™ of programmable DC power supplies with high power density.

This expansion offers engineers more options in the output voltage and current ranges from 0-10 V/500 A to 0-1.500 V/3,4 A. The new 5 kW models are aimed at numerous applications, highlighting automotive test (electric and hybrid vehicles with batteries over 600 V), general testing and research, measurement, semiconductor and battery manufacturing, and renewable energy.

The two novelties have programmable outputs of 0-1.000V/0-5A and 0-1.500V/0-3,4A. Can be specified to accept three-phase inputs from 170 to 265Vac or wide range from 342 to 528Vac with power factor correction (PFC). They operate in constant current, voltage, or power limit modes and offer internal resistance simulation.

In addition, the TDK-Lambda GENESYS+™ series benefits from digital signal processing technology (DSP) and state-of-the-art components, including ferrite materials, to reach efficiencies up to 92 percent. Lower internal waste heat ensures a greater power range without compromising reliability.

With dimensions of 423mm (width) x 486.5mm (depth) x 43,6mm – 1U (height), these GENESYS+™ 5kW power supplies are ideal for rack mounting zero stack and are cooled by variable speed fans that monitor ambient temperature and output load to minimize noise and professional fatigue. Your weight of less than 8,5 kg it also makes it easier to manage.

All models in the GENESYS+™ series have a LCD display high-contrast, wide-viewing angle with brightening and dimming functions and faster programmable response times, with the ability to adjust the effect slew rates of voltage and current.

It is also possible to generate arbitrary waveform test profiles of up to one hundred steps and store them in four memory cells and activate them via commands from the communication ports on the front panel controls.

If required additional power, these 5 kW programmable power supplies use the advanced parallel system (patent pending) from TDK-Lambda, which allows a multi-unit system to be created and provides dynamic response, ripple and noise performance comparable to that of a single source. So, they can be connect in parallel up to twelve models GENESYS+ easily using a data link cable and connecting the DC outputs. The command and auxiliary units are automatically configured when detecting the data connection in parallel and establish their corresponding parameters.

La programming follows the same pattern across the GENESYS+ series from 1 to 60 kW via front panel controls, remotely via LAN (LXI 1.5), USB 2.0 and RS232/485 communications or isolated analog control and monitoring (0-5 V and 0-10 V), which are standard features.

The optional interfaces they cover a choice of EtherCAT, Modbus-TCP or GPIB (IEEE488.2), while the software package consists of software drivers, a waveform creator and a virtual front panel GUI.

The functions of fullfilment of security requirements, which are also standards, include Safe/Auto Re-Start, Last Setting Memory and many others. In addition, there is the option of a “blank” front panel (no display) for those applications where you want to prevent any unauthorized changes to the unit's configuration.

With five year warranty, the new 5 kW power supplies have safety certificates IEC/EN/UL/CSA 61010-1 with the CE and UKCA marking, in accordance with Low Voltage (LV), EMC and RoHS directives. And, like the rest of the models in the GENESYS+ series, they also meet the standard IEC/EN 61204-3 Class A of conducted and radiated EMI immunity and EMC.
