SIGLENT presents the new SSG3000X Plus series of RF signal generators

As RF applications continue to evolve, so do the requirements for general-purpose signal generation. Wireless connectivity, IoT devices, the increasing integration of RF components, and the ever-widening use of RF technologies in education, development, and production are driving greater demand for entry-level instruments that offer reliable signal quality, precise output level control, and flexible modulation options, while maintaining practical handling for everyday use.

With the new series SSG3000X PlusSIGLENT responds to these new demands by introducing the successor to its established SSG3000X series. This new generation raises the performance level of SIGLENT's entry-level analog RF signal generators, while maintaining its focus on general-purpose RF applications.

The SSG3000X Plus series offers frequency ranges from 9 kHz to 2,1 GHz or 3,2 GHz, depending on the model, with a frequency tuning resolution of 0,01 Hz. Typical phase noise reaches -117 dBc/Hz with a 1 GHz carrier and a 20 kHz offset, enabling the generation of clean and accurate RF signals for development, education, and production applications.

Output levels start at -110 dBm, with specified performance up to +13 dBm and an adjustable maximum output level of +20 dBm. Typical level accuracy is ≤0,7 dB, enabling stable and repeatable monitoring of the signal applied to the device under test (DUT).

In addition to CW generation, the SSG3000X Plus series incorporates AM, FM, and phase modulation, utilizing internal, external, or combined modulation sources. It also offers pulse modulation with an ON/OFF ratio of ≥68 dBc. An optional pulse train generator expands the platform's capabilities for more advanced pulsed RF experiments and test setups.

For applications requiring modulated RF signals, the models SSG3000X-IQE Plus They offer external IQ modulation. In combination with a suitable baseband IQ source, such as a SIGLENT SDG6000X series generator, they enable the generation of IQ-modulated signals with a typical RF bandwidth of up to 200 MHz. This configuration also allows for applications such as the generation of two-tone signals for third-order interception (TOI) testing.

The Plus generation also incorporates features designed to simplify RF measurement processes. It's possible to integrate USB power sensors for power measurement and output level control, allowing the generator to adjust its output based on the actual power measured at the device under test. This is especially useful for compensating for losses introduced by cables, components, or other elements located in the signal path between the generator and the DUT (Device Under Test).

A 5-inch capacitive touchscreen provides direct access to the instrument's functions, while keyboard and mouse compatibility offers additional operating options. Remote access via web browser allows the instrument to be controlled from computers and mobile devices without the need for specific software. USB and LAN interfaces are included as standard, while GPIB and a more accurate OCXO frequency reference are available as options.

Thanks to these features, the SSG3000X Plus series covers a wide variety of general-purpose RF applications, from education and early RF work to component characterization, development, troubleshooting, and production testing.

The launch of the SSG3000X Plus series marks SIGLENT's transition from the existing SSG3000X platform to a new generation of entry-level RF signal generators. The series has been developed to provide RF measurement engineers with a signal source that offers the performance and capabilities required for everyday practical applications.

The SSG3000X Plus series offers a new entry point for users who need essential RF signal generation functions, with the necessary margin to learn, experiment, and continue to advance.
