Renesas Technology Europe has further expanded the high performance of the SH family by adding the SH7137F device to its SH2 range. The device has 256Kbyte of ultra-fast MONOS (METAL-OXIDE-NITRIDE-OXIDESEMICONDUCTOR) flash memory (12.5ns!), which allows a 100% deterministic behavior. This is due to the fact that Flash memory allows working at the operating frequency of 80MHz without wait states and therefore does not need cache memory, which could cause latency states.
