Introducing the 190 II Series Four-Channel ScopeMeter® Oscilloscopes

The evolution of a milestone
When Fluke released the 90 Series ScopeMeter in 1991, it created the concept of the portable oscilloscope and redefined “on the go” waveform analysis. Before the introduction of this rugged, battery-powered instrument, handheld oscilloscopes looked too much like benchtop oscilloscopes. They required an electrical outlet, were heavy, and could not withstand the demanding industrial environment. The idea to build a rugged portable oscilloscope first arose during a contract for the installation and commissioning of measurement equipment on an oil rig in the North Sea that required an oscilloscope. With very little time to get the job done (each unnecessary hour of drilling costs several hundred thousand dollars), having to rely on such a fragile benchtop instrument in such an unforgiving work environment was an expensive risk.
