Identification of Firewall technology for network security protection

This article discusses firewall technology that can offer various features such as: define security boundaries to block/allow trusted/untrusted access to internal resources, restrict external access, log network activities, detect and prevent intrusions and restrict information from being transferred into or out of the protected network or system. To do this, it inspects IP packets, translates IP addresses and ports, and even encrypts and decrypts. It is one of the essential modern technical or countermeasures for defense-in-depth in network environments. This means deploying several security measures, avoiding that security only depends on a single measure, for example, computing machines protected by a firewall must also have updated security patches, IPS, antivirus, antispam, etc. Firewalls must be placed not only at the borders of networks but also at end points such as servers, workstations, PDAs, mobile phones, etc.
