This application note describes the conventional method of generating high amplitude signals using an external power amplifier. The following will describe typical applications and show the benefits of using built-in arbitrary waveform and function generators with an integrated high-level output stage. Applications described in this note include the measurement of timing and switching characteristics of power semiconductors for automotive applications and the characterization of amplifiers for gas chromatography detectors.
