High Integration Solutions for POL Converter
RC Microelectrónica is the distributor for Spain and Portugal of Vishay Intertechnology
Highly integrated MicroBUCK® and MicroBRICK® Solutions for the design of POL (Point of Load) “Load Points” offer high efficiency while reducing costs. Each family offers an extensive catalog of references with common Pins that gives designers the ability to scale their solution in search of the best combination of cost and performance. With a Buck Converter topology, the MicroBUCK® series integrates the PWM control, drivers and MOSFETs in a single encapsulation... in the case of the MicroBRICK® series, the inductance is added to the previous configuration. Its references include an input range from 18V to 60V, with adjustable outputs from 2nd to 40A; to be able to adapt to the different needs of the multiple applications that have their cutting edge in electronics. Factoty Automation, Home Automation, Base stations and repeaters, network equipment, robotics, battery management systems, power tools, terminals / points of sale, etc.
Combining robust, high-performance N-Channel MOSFETs with a PWM controller and drivers in a compact 5×5 package (PowerPAK® package), this VISHAY device achieves high power density while maintaining high efficiency, without forget that high integration and internal compensation reduces the number of external components needed. The operational consumption currents are minimal (<200uA) to achieve efficiency peaks of 98% and reduce power losses. The thermal design of the encapsulation minimizes the cooling needs... which allows to reduce spaces and sizes in PCBs and radiators, improving costs.
The regulators can adjust their working frequency from 100kHz to 2MHz, they have "soft start" and current limiter. The internal architecture offers a stability loop regardless of the type of output capacitor, allowing the use of low-ESR ceramics. They include a set of protections such as OVP (output over voltage protection), UVP (output undervoltage protection), OCP (overcurrent circuit protection), SCP (short circuit protection) and OTP (overtemperature protection).
