  • The new battery will reduce CO emissions2 and NOx from ships and fuel consumption.
  • The scalable system offers high power density to deliver performance in a compact space at a competitive cost.
  • The modular concept allows for flexible battery solutions to suit hybrid and all-electric boats.

Saft has launched Seanergy 2.0, a new lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery system for all-electric and hybrid boats. The battery is a competitively priced and environmentally responsible solution to help ship operators reduce fuel consumption, CO emissions2 and NOx and air pollution, without sacrificing performance.

The system can be scaled to accommodate propulsion and other loads aboard vessels, including ferries, work boats and tugs, offshore support vessels, cruise ships and yachts.

Annie Sennett, Executive Vice President of Saft's Space and Defense division, said: "We believe that our battery systems make a vital contribution to the low carbon economy. For the marine industry, Seanergy 2.0 provides high performance at lower cost, enabling shipyards and electrical integrators to deliver battery systems for electric and hybrid propulsion more competitively in smaller spaces.. "

Seanergy 2.0 has a high energy density of 130 watt-hours per liter (Wh/l), making it a compact solution for even the most restricted spaces. Ship integrators can use individual modules to build large-scale battery systems up to 1.060 volts (V), complete with power, safety, management and communication capabilities.

The battery system is designed to provide reliability and long life in the most difficult environmental conditions. In addition, it is low maintenance and allows remote monitoring by uploading operational data to a secure server.

Seanergy 2.0 is manufactured at Saft's facility in Poitiers, France, and is designed to meet the highest certifications in the marine industry.
